Our treatments

Understanding each option

PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma
PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma

Mobilize your own growth factors

PRP is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors.

Re-injected under ultrasound guidance at the site of the injury, it stimulates regeneration of tendons and cartilage. Depending on the condition, a 2nd injection may be recommended.

Viscosupplementation
Viscosupplementation

Lubricate the osteoarthritic joint

Viscosupplementation involves injecting hyaluronic acid into an osteoarthritic joint to improve lubrication, cushion impacts and reduce pain.

It is especially indicated for osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, shoulder, ankle or fingers when conventional treatments no longer suffice.

Hyaluronic acid can also be used around certain tendons and ligaments to improve soft-tissue gliding and ease some tendinopathies.

Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy

Stimulate tissue repair

Prolotherapy involves injecting a solution, often dextrose-based, near ligaments, tendons or joints to stimulate the body's natural tissue-repair process.

It aims to strengthen weakened structures and reduce chronic pain, particularly when instability or ligamentous laxity contributes to symptoms.

Cortisone injection
Cortisone injection

Reduce inflammation

Cortisone injections are medical procedures commonly used to treat a wide range of inflammatory conditions affecting joints, tendons and bursae.

By injecting a potent anti-inflammatory directly at the site of pain, under ultrasound guidance, the injection reduces inflammation and relieves discomfort, often for several weeks to several months.

The process

Before, during and after your injection

Before the procedure
01

Before the procedure

How should I prepare?

Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area to be treated.

Should I stop my medications?

In the vast majority of cases, you don't need to interrupt your medication. Check with your doctor if you have any doubts.

If you're receiving PRP
  • Arrive 30 minutes early (for the blood draw and plasma preparation).
  • Avoid anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) — Advil, Motrin, Aleve — for the 7 days before the procedure.
During the procedure
02

During the procedure

Is it painful?

Discomfort is generally minimal. The skin is numbed with lidocaine, and ultrasound guidance allows a precise, quick procedure.

How long does it take?

The injection itself takes only a few minutes. Plan for about 30 minutes on-site in total.

If you're receiving PRP
  • Plan for 45 minutes to 1 hour on-site (blood draw, plasma preparation and injection).
After the procedure
03

After the procedure

When can I resume activities?

Relative rest for 48 hours is advised, followed by a gradual return. Avoid high-impact activities for 7 to 10 days.

When will I feel the effect?

For cortisone, the effect begins within 48 to 72 hours. For PRP, results progress over 6 to 12 weeks.

If you're receiving PRP
  • Dr. Champagne will guide your return to activities, which depends on the area injected.
